Horror Cases from The Conservation Crypt

To my horror,  the client had wrapped a bath towel around his painting. He thought he was protecting it by wrapping it in something soft for transportation, but the little lifting, curling flakes on the painting had linked with the looped fibers of the towel. We had a terrible time separating the two.

Lifting and curling paint is usually caused by moisture that swells the chalky ground layer, causing it to flake.

If this is happening to your painting, call us directly. 913 661 9128. We will tell you to lay it flat in the car trunk with nothing on top.
